Death Grant for Survivors of Industrial Workers Raised - May 5, 2011

The Punjab Government has increased the “death grant” (called funeral expense) for heirs/survivors deceased industrial workers under Provincial Employees Social Security Ordinance from PKR 2000 to one month of Pay but not more than 10,000 rupees

The Punjab Government has increased the “death grant” (also called funeral expense) for heirs/survivors deceased industrial workers under Provincial Employees Social Security Ordinance from PKR 2000 to one month of Pay (which is at least Minimum Wage of PKR 7000). It was also declared that the maximum amount for this grant would be PKR 10,000. While applying for death grant, the survivors/heirs can still use old identity cards for identifying their deceased relatives. The above decision was made in the 111thGoverning Body meeting Punjab Employees Social Security Institution.

The Minister for Labor-Punjab, Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi, also told the reporters that Punjab government was in the process introducing hospital information management system, to be introduced at dispensary level in phases, with technical assistance from Shaukat Khanam Hospital.
