Home-based and Their Registration with Employees Old Age Benefits Institution - October 3, 2011

The Home Net Workers Pakistan and Aurat Foundation have passed a resolution in Quetta seeking registration of home-based workers with Employees Old Age Benefits Institution and Workers Welfare Fund. There are around 12 million home-based workers in the country. The resolution also says that home-based workers should be recognized as workers under the Labor Policy and their wages should be set at decent levels. These workers should be allowed to join trade unions and their employers should be bound to bear all the medical expenses, in case these workers get sick.

Currently, there are 538 non-governmental organizations in the country which working for the rights of home-based workers.
