Employment Opportunities and Economic Growth - July 14, 2011

Deputy Chairman Planning Commission has said that Pakistan’s economy must grow at more than seven percent in order to provide employment opportunities to the burgeoning young population of the country. While addressing a two-day international conference on growth strategy, he said that around 68% of Pakistan’s population is young (with age less than 30 years) and is entering labour force at the annual rate of 3%. If Pakistan needs to employ this youth, its economy must grow consistently at more than seven percent for 20 years.
