Fetters of Bonded Labour Broken - August 21, 2011

Additional Session Judge at Islamabad orders to free 11 labourers who were forced to perform bonded labour at a brick kiln in Tarlai area. Earlier a bonded labourer had appealed for assistance from Supreme Court of Pakistan to save him and his family from bonded labour. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had ordered IGP Islamabad Police to solve the matter on merit while ensuring relief to the applicant. On these instructions from the apex court, the Islamabad Police raided the kiln and recovered 11 people who were forced to work at a kiln.
