SHORT RECITAL
WHEREAS THE PACKAGES WORKERS UNION (REGD) C.B.A QAINCHI AMERSIDHU LAHORE (hereinafter referred to as the “UNION” which expression wherever the context so admits shall mean and include its successors, assigns, nominees or affiliates) terminated the earlier settlement dated 09.02.2012 made between the parties hereto and submitted a Charter of Demands on 30.12.2013 to PACKAGES LIMITED, SHAHRAH-E-ROOMI, LAHORE (hereinafter referred to as the “COMPANY” which expression wherever the context so admits shall mean and include its successors and assigns) AND WHEREAS pursuant to the aforesaid Charter of Demands bilateral negotiations were initiated which were extended from time to time with mutual consent to enable the parties to arrive at an overall amicable settlement.
AND WHEREAS it being understood and recognized by the union that the main intent and purpose of this Agreement is to provide benefits to the employees in view of the increase in cost of living and generally to promote their financial well-being and improve industrial peace and better relationship between the Company and its employees. Now THEREFORE the Company and the union have mutually agreed to the following.
TERMS OF AGREEMENT
1. OFFER, ACCEPTANCE AND OPERATIVE PERIOD
The Union while accepting the offers made by the Company Management as set out in this Agreement has withdrawn all other demands made vide its Charter of Demands dated 30.12.2013 and has further agreed that the operative period of this agreement shall be two Calendar years i.e. 01.01.2014 to 31.12.2015 and thereafter it shall continue to be in operation till the expiry of two months from the date on which a notice in writing to terminate the same is given by either of the parties.
2. INCREASE IN BASIC PAY
It has been agreed to allow an increase of Rs. 1,000/- (Rs. One thousand only) per month in the basic wages/salary of all permanent employees i.e. hourly rated and monthly paid staff up to Grade P-III/V.
3. HOUSE RENT ALLOWANCE
It has been agreed to allow an increase of Rs. 600/- per month in House Rent Allowance of all the permanent unionized employees up to Grade P-III/V, drawing House Rent at the rate of 60% of basic or minimum House Rent Allowance in grade.
4. CONVEYANCE ALLOWANCE
It has been agreed to increase an amount of Rs. 800/- per month in Conveyance Allowance thereby raising the same from Rs. 2,550/- p.m. to Rs. 3,350/- PM.
5. ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE
It has been agreed to increase Rs. 300/- per month in the Attendance Allowance thereby raising it from Rs. 1,480/- to Rs. 1,780/- per month subject to the terms and conditions already in vogue in this regard.
6. PROVISION OF PAY SCALES
It has been agreed to enhance the 50% amount in the existing Slab interval of all the workers up to Grade P-III/V.
7. NIGHT SHIFT ALLOWANCE
It has been agreed to increase an amount of Rs. 100/- per night in Night Shift Allowance thereby raising it from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 150/- per night.
8. RECREATIONAL ALLOWANCE
It has been agreed to increase an amount of Rs. 800/- in Recreational Allowance, thereby raising it from Rs. 1100/- to Rs. 1900/- per year.
9. CONTRACT WORKER
It has been agreed effective from 1st of March, 2014 to confirm as a permanent employee to those contract workers enrolled on Packages Limited pay roll having more than one-year service as a Contract Worker with the Company and are working on production floor or directly working for production departments.
10. GROUP INSURANCE/WORKER COMPENSATION INSURANCE
It has been agreed that in case of death of an employee during the course of employment either natural death or accidental death during on duty, the amount of compensation increased from Rs. 200,000/- (Rs. Two lac) to Rs. 500,000/- (Rs. Five lacs).
11. FUNERAL EXPENSES
It has been agreed to increase an amount of Rs. 10,000/- in this expense and revise it from Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. Rs. 35,000/- as per the terms and conditions already in force.
It has been agreed that the same amount will also be given to the employee in case the death of his wife for one time only during the course of his employment with the Company.
12. PACKAGES EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
It has been agreed that there will be an increased in 7 Scholarship for Class 9th/10th for the employee’s children. The total number of scholarships will become 40. It has been further agreed to increase the existing amount fixed in these categories of scholarships as per details given below:

13. MOTORCYCLE LOAN
It has been agreed that amount fixed for the motorcycle loan will be Rs. 961,000/- all other terms and conditions already enforced remain the same.
14. HAJJ SCHEME
It has been agreed that the number of workers to be sent on Hajj on Company Expense will be 5 workers every year. All other terms and conditions already enforced remain the same.
15. OUTDOOR DUTY MEAL EXPENSES
It has been agreed to increase an amount of Rs. 50/- per meal, thereby raising it from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 150/- for outdoor on duty per meal expenses.
16. RETIREMENT PARTY
It has been agreed that in case the retirement of a permanent workers after attaining the age of 58 years, a retirement party will be arranged by the Management in the Packages Canteen as per following detail:
1. Maximum number of participants from the relevant department will be 75 in number.
2. Menu for retirement party per participant will be:
- Samosa 2 per person
- Sandwich
- Fruit Cake
- Tea or Juice
3. A gift amount of Rs. 2000/- will also be given to the relevant retire worker from the management side.
17. UNIFORM & SOAP TO WORKERS
It has been agreed to form regularity in the supply of uniform to workers as per time schedule. It has been further agreed to change the brand of one soap given to workers from white Lifebuoy to Capri Soap with the same quantity and the other one soap will remain the same.
18. SCOPE, EXISTING FACILITIES
This agreement covers all the employees up to grade – V and P-III shall become effective from 01.01.2014 except where Particular date is specified in any of the foregoing clauses. All existing terms, conditions of services, facilities and amenities shall continue to remain in force save the extent they are modified, changed or altered by this agreement.
19. FINALITY OF SETTLEMENT
The union and the Company agree to maintain industrial peace, co-operate with Management in improving productivity and abide by this agreement and further agree in consideration of the benefits and the increase given as per this agreement or the said Charter of Demands and/or any other fresh demands or demand in any manner. Whatsoever, involving financial implications or otherwise upon the company, during the period of this Agreement is to remain in force.
No other meaning of interpretation can be given to any of the clauses, sub-clauses of the above settled demands except the one, which has been laid down in this Memorandum of Agreement.
